Creating a Dynamic Digital Platform and Brand Identity for a Visual Novel Studio

Dragonfire Studios, a newly established independent studio focused on developing visual novels, approached me following a personal recommendation.

Founder Phoivos required a professional online presence to support his Kickstarter campaign for the studio’s first visual novel project, as well as branding refinements to prepare the studio for growth and future expansions.

Project Overview

The studio needed a website that would showcase its flagship visual novel, build community support, and engage backers during development stages.

In addition, the original logo required reworking to meet trademark standards, ensuring the brand was prepared for legal protection and commercial expansion.

I was responsible for rebranding the studio, designing and developing the website, integrating communication systems, and contributing to the visual novel’s user interface and user experience designs.

My Approach

The project began with refining the Dragonfire Studios logo.
I recreated and polished the original concept to meet trademark standards, ensuring clean vector scalability, balanced proportions, and strong visual impact.

The logo features bold typography infused with dynamic flame elements — with the letter “I” designed as a flame, and a stylised dragon tail underlining “Studios”.

The colour palette features a vibrant orange-to-red gradient, symbolising creativity, passion, and the fiery spirit of storytelling, set against a strong black background to ensure maximum contrast and drama.

The website design followed a cinematic, immersive style, using dark backgrounds, bold visual elements, and smooth scrolling animations to create an engaging experience for visitors.
Key features included:

  • A dedicated Visual Novel Showcase page.

  • A Blog/News section to provide development updates and announcements.

  • A Newsletter subscription system, integrated with MailChimp, which automatically sends updates to subscribers whenever a new blog post is published — helping Phoivos build and maintain strong engagement with his community of backers and fans.

In addition to the website, I supported the studio by creating UI/UX designs for the visual novel itself — ensuring that in-game menus, dialogues, and navigation interfaces were clear, immersive, and thematically consistent with the studio’s aesthetic vision.

Results

Dragonfire Studios successfully secured funding through its Kickstarter campaign, thanks in part to the strong brand presence and seamless communication systems provided by the new website.

From the time of writing, the studio’s first visual novel is now available for download and purchase, and the website remains ready to support the studio’s further growth and future project launches.
