Bringing a New Natural Wellness Brand to Life

Ocean Roots needed a complete brand identity and digital presence that captured the authenticity of their Caribbean-sourced products while appealing to a modern, health-conscious audience. From developing the logo and visual direction to creating packaging concepts and a new e-commerce website, I supported the brand across every stage of its launch.

Project Overview

Ocean Roots approached us at the early stages of their brand journey. As a family-run business with a deep passion for natural well-being, they needed a brand identity that would resonate with health-conscious audiences while authentically reflecting their Caribbean roots.

I was tasked with helping Ocean Roots from the ground up — starting with brand strategy, visual identity, packaging design concepts, and a fully functional e-commerce website.

My Approach

The brand identity began with designing a logo that symbolises the essence of Ocean Roots. I created a circular emblem featuring an ocean wave flowing into the roots of a tree, encapsulating the brand’s connection to nature, vitality, and heritage. The wave design references the pure waters of Saint Lucia, where their Sea Moss is sourced, while the rooted tree symbolises growth, strength, and authenticity.

For the colour palette, I chose vibrant turquoise blue and warm golden yellow:

  • Turquoise Blue represents the ocean, purity, and vitality — aligning with the brand’s natural and health-focused ethos.

  • Golden Yellow reflects warmth, sunshine, and energy — a nod to the Caribbean spirit and the nourishing power of nature.

The typography was carefully selected to blend approachability with a sense of craftsmanship. A flowing script for “Roots” conveys authenticity and connection, while a clean, modern style for “Ocean” brings balance and clarity.

After establishing the brand identity, I worked on packaging concept designs that carried the same natural, vibrant energy, ensuring consistency across touchpoints. I also liaised closely with content writers to align the tone of voice for the website — making sure the language spoke directly to a health-conscious, eco-aware audience while honouring the authentic Caribbean sourcing stories behind the products.

The final stage involved designing the e-commerce website — focusing on a clean, engaging user experience to showcase their Sea Moss and Sugar Cane products, with a structure ready to scale as the business grows.

Results

Ocean Roots now has a confident brand identity rooted in authenticity and vibrancy, with a visual system that communicates trust, quality, and a strong connection to natural well-being. The project reflects a complete journey from concept to customer-ready platform, supporting their vision for future growth.
